Monday afternoon
All is going well. I am maintaining 95% off the oxygen during the day. I am still using some oxygen with my bi pap mask to sleep at night.
APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE
Last week’s scare when the head of the KU Pulmonary department blamed my drop in oxygen in my blood to my ALS and told us to be thinking about a machine to breathe for me, pulled Carole and I up short and made us appreciate what we had the week before. Of course the next day the CT scan proved that the doctor’s theory was false as I had a blood clot in each lung that caused the lack of oxygen.
But it did make Carole and I appreciate my medical circumstance for what we “have” and not for what we have “lost”. I could have very easily died of those blood clots and we praise and thank God for we have.
ALL THIS REMINDS ME OF THE SAYING…
“what if you lost all that you have and just got it all back?? How thankful would be??
It is so easy to fall for the devil’s trap of looking at what we have lost instead of being thankful for what we have left. My cup is definitely “half full”.
To God be the glory,
He is our hope, salvation and comfort
just a side note:
Seems to me that the Army used a similar tactic on us at basic training when they took everything away from us for a month and we thought it was a big deal when they let us go to the PX for 30 minutes….LOL
Just wanted you and Carole to know how much we admire your positive attitudes towards your monumentous challenge. Our class was very fortunate to have you in a leadership role for the reunions these past few years. The gatherings in Council Grove were much more successful than they otherwise would have been without your efforts. Our very best wishes as you continue on this journey.
