Well, I spoke too soon. Grand daughter Katie and I worked all afternoon putting my tower computer back to together again and in it’s place and then we tried to resolve the wireless network problem that came back today. Finally, we resorted to calling the tech support line for D-Link and the gal helped us change some settings as we are not able to hold a connection…resorted to one hard wire to server and other 4 wireless…thought I had it solved, but no..the wireless are still dropping the connection. It is a D-Link 651 300 n…anyone have any ideas ???
Actually, it seems like Michael helped me with this problem when I was setting up our home network and it seems like it came down to a compatibility issue of the hard-wire server and wireless routers. The 300 n denotes a capacity or wavelength that it speaks to another router with, and they must all share that same capacity or wavelength, as if they don’t, the connections will be sporadic. Michael is reading over this while I am typing and he agrees that this may be the issue. He suggests that you check the wireless cards that you installed on your towers for compatibility with the D-Link (i.e. if it has a g or a w, your D-link will have trouble communicating with it). But if the laptops are having trouble, while it also could be this issue, it might be something else.
