So son Tim, grand daughter Sophie and grand daughter Katie left for Topeka this morning and Carole and I went to the 10:45 am service at our church, Christ Lutheran.

Now you have to understand that one of the effects of ALS is that your emotions are more on the surface than normal.  So if something affects me emotionally I may now choke up in tears whereas before you would not have known that I was touched.  Such was the case this morning when Aryln and Pastor Meyers were telling stories about the affect that our Reach program is having on the 2000 homes surrounding our church.  The Reach program involves several drives to collect food, clothing, school supplies, etc for the needy and church members hang collection bags on the doors of neghborhoods surrounding our church.  The neighborhood is responding more each drive and the stories of people giving and receiving are very touching indeed.  Christ Lutheran intends to do these drives for the needy indefinitely.
